We Dare to Say: A Resource for Faith-Sharing Groups on the Lord’s Prayer

At every moment of every day, somewhere in the world, Christians are praying the prayer that Jesus taught his disciples. When said in liturgy or in devotional prayer, together or privately, the Lord’s Prayer is like a gentle, multilingual hum of heartfelt praise and petition.”

Pope Francis has inaugurated a Year of Prayer ahead of the 2025 Jubilee, calling on the faithful “to intensify prayer to prepare us to live well in this event of grace and to experience the power of God’s hope.” The Holy Father explained that the Year of Prayer is dedicated “to.” What would be the “perfect” time to reflect and rediscover the value and the need for prayer ̶ be it one’s personal life, in the life of the Church, or that of the world ̶ if not the seasons of Lent (and Easter)?
The Catholic Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales (CBCEW) therefore proposes an itinerary for a faith-sharing group on The Lord’s Prayer structured for five sessions (or five weeks). This faith-sharing itinerary seeks to provide small groups, dedicated to the reflection of the Word, draws on the Scriptures with each session clearly rooted in a passage from the Bible. As the Second Vatican Council Fathers emphasized ‘in the sacred books the Father comes lovingly to meet his children and talks with them’ (Dei Verbum, 21).

Here is the official website of the CBCEW with all the five sessions, downloadable and made available for print.
