Comes Saturday, September 23, at the Aula San Pablo The Society of St. Paul is celebrating a formative day as part of Bible Month in the month of the Bible. Entitled “Reading the Bible Today”. It will include the presentation of the book, La Biblia Latinoamérica. The Word in the Hands of the Humble, by Marcelo E. Lavayen.
The Society of St. Paul in Spain, in coordination with the St. Paul Biblical Center, has organized a day of formation on the occasion of the a day of formation on the occasion of Bible Month, which is celebrated throughout the month of September in commemoration of St. Jerome, the great translator of Sacred Scripture. The theme of the day will be given by José Ignacio Pedregosa Ordóñez, SSP, coordinator of the St. Paul Biblical Center. Centro Bíblico San Pablo, and Marcelo E. Lavayen Juan, author of the book La Biblia Latinoamérica. The Word in the Hands of the Humble.
The event will be divided into two parts.
First, José Ignacio Pedregosa will develop the theme of the day, proposing ways of approaching and reading the Word in daily life and giving guidelines for a contemporary Lectio Divina. He will then begin a dialogue with Marcelo Lavayen, who will present his book and also the exciting story of the creation and enormous diffusion of La Biblia Latinoamérica, a version of the sacred text written in the Spanish of America for the humble and simple people.
Marcelo Lavayen’s book tells in an agile and dynamic style and after an arduous work of documentation and interviews with some people who were protagonists and witnesses of the process of creation of the Latin American Bible; it also features the vicissitudes that the French priests Ramón Ricciardi and Bernardo Hurault had to go through in the impoverished south of Chile to make their project a reality. The conference is open to the public until full capacity is reached.
