Healing the Wounds of Violence: 300 Bibles Given in Pakistan

All the media have spread images of the terrorist attack on Christian churches and families which occurred in Pakistan last August, in response to the false accusation of blasphemy against two young Christians. An attack which, by extension, is unprecedented. In fact, 21 Christian churches and the homes of 300 families were vandalized. In response to so much destruction, fear and deep wounds to the Christian community, everyone move to express solidarity and bring comfort, first among them is the Bishop of Faisalabad and Caritas. The Daughters of St. Paul of Pakistan, in line with their specific vocation, participated in a peaceful demonstration in Karachi, in which Sr. Ghazia spoke and put a short speech on Youtube, highlighting the Christian contribution for the benefit of culture, education, in the medical field, and reiterating the love of the country and the undisputed Christian contribution to its development. As a concrete response of love to the affected families, already reached by many food aids, our five communities have committed to donating 300 Bibles to these families, because all copies of this text have been burned. On August 28th, a representation of each Pauline community went to the place to bring comfort and personally present the gift to these families so tried and wounded; a wound, the latter, which has brought to the surface many wounds and injustices of the past!
