The Fruit of the Pomegranate: Biblical Figures Reinterpreted

The fruit of the pomegranate is characterized by its numerous grains. You can fully appreciate the taste only if eaten together. Due to its conformation, it has struck the human imagination and immediately became a powerful symbol of plurality and hermeneutical wealth for cultures and religions. The series of volumes published by San Paolo Edizioni is inspired by this evocative charge articulated according to a constant structure: after having framed the character in a theological dimension, a general description of the way in which it has been incorporated into Jewish and Christian exegetic literature is given, and an anthology of texts chosen for their beauty and their dialogical dimension is given. The series is curated by Marco Cassuto Morselli and Massimo Gargiulo. The aim of this publication is to offer an idea of the hermeneutic richness of the two interpretative traditions, showing little-known but suggestive aspects; and to understand how among them there has been a long and fruitful osmotic relationship rather than an early and clear division. The first four volumes dedicated to Abramo, Caino, Davide, Mosè.
