On 2nd October, during a private audience with the Members of the General Chapter, Daughters of St Paul, the new Superior General, Sr. Maria Lucia Kim, presented Pope Leo XIV with the new edition of the Bible in the Malagasy language. Distribution of this new edition will begin in Madagascar in November.
Upon receiving the Bible, the Holy Father recommended to the sisters two key attitudes essential for relating to the Word of God:
“…while the proclamation of the Gospel remains central to our mission, our task goes beyond merely communicating generic information or abstract truths. Instead, we must enter into concrete history, embrace the questions and concerns raised by real life, and speak the languages of the men and women of our time. I urge you, therefore, to live with renewed enthusiasm by following two guiding principles: looking upwards and immersing yourselves within. This is truly how the Bible must be read: by looking upwards and profoundly immersing ourselves.”
