Psalm 123 (122)
9Psalm of hope. We know that our very good Father always hears us. Let us fix our eyes on the Lord without tiring until he says, “Your faith has saved you.”
1 To you I lift up my eyes, 1 to you whose throne is in heaven.
2 As the eyes of servants look
2 to the hand of their master,
2 as the eyes of maids look
2 to the hand of their mistress,
2 so our eyes look to the Lord our God,
2 till he shows us his mercy.
3 Have mercy on us, O Lord,
3 have mercy on us,
3 for we have our fill of contempt.
4 Too long have our souls been filled
4 with the scorn of the arrogant,
4 with the ridicule of the insolent.
