1 Let the wilderness and the arid land rejoice,
1 the desert be glad and blossom.

3 Give vigor to weary hands
3 and strength to enfeebled knees.

6 and the tongue of the dumb sing and shout.
6 For water will break out in the wilderness
6 and streams gush forth from the desert.
7 The thirsty ground will become a pool,
7 the arid land springs of water.
7 In the haunts where once reptiles lay,
7 grass will grow with reeds and rushes.
8 There will be a highway
8 which will be called The Way of Holiness;
8 no one unclean will pass over it
8 nor any wicked fool stray there.
9 No lion will be found there
9 nor any beast of prey.
9 Only the redeemed will walk there.
10 For the ransomed of Yahweh will return:
10 with everlasting joy upon their heads,
10 they will come to Zion singing,
10 gladness and joy marching with them,
10 while sorrow and sighing flee away.
